Wellness Care

Wellness Exams and Preventative Care are the cornerstones of any animal’s good health. Wellness visits include a complete physical exam, parasite screening, appropriate vaccines, blood tests, urine analysis, and screening x-rays when indicated. This is also when we establish a baseline for your pet’s health and make plans for care going forward.

Dental Care

Terry Animal Hospital stresses the importance of dental care for any animal! Our complete oral assessment and treatment (C.O.H.A.T.) focuses on identifying and   preventing  periodontal disease, as well as, gingivitis.  Once evaluated, we recommend dental prophylaxis when appropriate.

Diagnostic Laboratory

Terry Animal Hospital knows waiting for test results can be stressful.Terry Animal Hospital offers in-house laboratory testing with immediate results.  In addition, we provide complete diagnostic capabilities through our full service national reference laboratory. 


Pet acupuncture has been shown to help with stimulating your pet’s immune system, increasing relaxation of their muscles to prevent joint problems, and promoting healthy blood flow. Call us now to learn more about how pet acupuncture services can help your pet. 

Internal Medicine

Like people, pets are susceptible to serious medical conditions which may require in-depth medical intervention. Our veterinarians are able to diagnose and treat complex disorders, injury and disease. Our team is trained in advanced medical procedures and can treat complicated medical conditions. Treatment of Sick & Injured Animals

Even under the best of care, some pets will experience illnesses or injuries that require immediate attention and care. Although we primarily treat patients on an out-patient basis, we do provide all aspects of intensive and critical care management. If your pet is experiencing illness or injury, call us immediately for prompt attention 847-256-1131.

Ultrasound & X-Ray Service

Terry Animal Hospital provides in-house  ultrasound and digital x-rays for immediate interpretation by our doctors. This will help you and our team to make the best decisions for your pet’s healthcare needs.  The use of these diagnostic tools provides immediate care.

When Do I Need to Bring My New Pet In?

It is best to bring your new pet in within a day or two of getting them to make sure your new family member is healthy. 

Are You Currently Accepting New Patients

We are actively accepting new patients in the form of felines, canines, and exotics. Our Animal Hospital serves animals from Wilmette, Evanston, Northfield, Glenview, Northbrook, Highland Park, Rogers Park, and all of surrounding Chicagoland.

Do You See Exotic Pets?

Our Veterinarians are available to treat most companion animals, including: dogs, cats, small mammals, small reptiles and birds.

We commonly treat: Gerbils, Guinea Pigs, Ferrrets, Snakes, Lizards, Parrots and more.

Dr. Richard Mattson

Dr. Richard Mattson graduated Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 and joined Terry Animal Hospital in 1989. His emphasis is on surgery, dental procedures and ultrasound. 

Dr. Julie Mattson

Dr. Julie Mattson

Dr. Julie Mattson graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Her special interest is internal medicine and all aspects of patient care. She enjoys the long term connections she has with people and their pets. 

Dr. Sarah Blose

Dr. Sarah Blose

Sarah Blose DVM, graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.  She has been practicing at Terry Animal Hospital since 2009. In 2002, Dr. Blose received IVAS certification in Veterinary Acupuncture and is passionate about this integrative treatment.  Her other professional interests include surgery, internal medicine, connecting with clients and their families through community education and events. 

Dr. Katie Baldwin

Dr. Katie Baldwin

Dr. Baldwin is originally from Chicago. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore in 1994 and her DVM in 1998 from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She then completed an internship at a private specialty practice in Rochester, New York.  Since then, Dr. Baldwin has worked in private practice both in Chicago and in London, where she worked for a few years doing relief work. Dr Baldwin has a strong interest in preventative care and Fear-Free Visits, which is a program designed to make visits to the vet less scary.

Dr. Baldwin and her husband Warren (imported from England) and 3-year-old daughter Poppy live with their cats Logan and Wolfie in Roger’s Park. In her free time, Dr. Baldwin likes to read, travel and enjoy the outdoors.

Dr. Caryl Buonopane

Dr. Caryl Buonopane

Dr. Caryl Buonopane graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine after completing her clinical year at Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She joined Terry Animal Hospital in May of 2016 with a passion for small animal medicine. Her priority is to provide high quality care to keep her patients healthy and happy. She currently provides relief services at Terry Animal Hospital and caring for her 3 dogs, cat, and horse.
