EMPHASIS ON PREVENTATIVE CARE

We treat patients in a friendly, compassionate environment while keeping owners well informed. We emphasize preventative medicine to promote a long and healthy life for your pets. To ensure optimal health and well-being for your companion animal, we recommend bringing your pet in for regular checkups as well as keeping them up to date on appropriate vaccinations.

Wellness screening including blood tests, urinalysis and screening x-rays may be recommended. By regularly seeing your pet, we have the opportunity to identify and address any health problems early and start intervention sooner.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

We recommend that your pet receives a Physical Examination annually. During this time our doctors will perform the following:

  • Temperature & Weight Check
  • Ear & Eye Examination
  • Abdominal Palpation
  • Musculoskeletal Evaluation
  • Dermatological Exam
  • Dental Exam
  • Cardiopulmonary Analysis.

At this time we will discuss with you the vaccinations appropriate for your pet’s lifestyle as well as discuss year long parasite control and prevention. We also use this examination period to discuss your pet’s behavior, dental care needs, and any diagnostics that we recommend.

Dog Vaccinations

  • Rabies
  • Distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus (commonly known as DHPP or distemper vaccine)
  • Leptospirosis
  • Lyme
  • Bordetella
  • Canine influenza

CAT VACCINATIONS

  • Rabies
  • Feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia (commonly known as FVRCP or distemper vaccine)
  • Feline leukemia virus

PARASITE SCREENING & PREVENTION

There are many parasites your companion pet is susceptible to. Your pet should be examined for fleas and ticks, tested for internal parasites twice a year, and tested for heartworm and tick transmitted diseases once a year. Based on lifestyle and screening tests, we will recommend appropriate treatment and preventatives for year round protection.

Dental Exams

Poorly maintained dental health can lead to not only dental disease but other health conditions that can affect your pet’s major organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys. During a routine dental exam we will be looking for signs of oral disease; swollen or inflammed gums, discolored teeth, evidence of tarter buildup, loose teeth, bad breath, and tumors.
